Homosexuality Is Wrong But It Is No Greater Sin Than The Rest

If God Will Forgive Greed, Murder And Theft, He Will Forgive Homosexuality As Long As IT IS CONFESSED AND ADMITTED TO GOD.

When it comes to homosexuality, the scriptures are clear that practising homosexuality is a sin. Through the following scriptures, we can clearly see that in the eyes of God, homosexuality is wrong:

Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Romans 1:26-27 – Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.

1 Timothy 1:10 – The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching.

1 Corinthians 6:9 – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites…

We will never be sinless in action, yet somehow, that is what we are all trying to achieve. The dilemma we face as children of God, is wanting to make ourselves appear without sin. We are afraid to admit our sin because we do not want to be wrong. This is called ‘unrepentance’. The devil has made us believe that if we admit we have sinned, we will face God’s wrath and punishment. But it is the exact opposite. Sin that has not been confessed or admitted to God is what brings upon God’s punishment. Unconfessed sin prohibits us from entering into God’s kingdom, and causes us to be unclean in the eyes of God.

Revelation 21:26-27 – And into the city will be brought the glory and honor of the nations. 27But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices an abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Sin that we have not recognized, like homosexuality, separates us from God.

Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.

When we do not admit our sin, we make God out to be a liar. Unconfessed sin prevents us from receiving the Holy Spirit and entering the Kingdom of Heaven. It prevents us from living a life filled with Holy Spirit power. So it is not sin per say that separates us from God; it is sin that we have refused to acknowledge and admit, that condemns us. This type of sin is called iniquity.

Psalm 38:18 – I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin.

Leviticus 5:5 – when anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned.

2 Corinthians 12:21 – I am afraid that when I come again, my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of their acts of impurity, sexual immorality, and debauchery.

Leviticus 26:40-42 – But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors—their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, 41 which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

1 King 8:46-49 – When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near; 47 and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly’; 48 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive, and pray to you toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name; 49 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

A confessed sin is called ‘transgression’. Once we confess/admit our sins to God, He is faithful to forgive all confessed sin.

Psalm 103:12 – as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us

Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

1 John 1:9 –  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 32:5 – Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Revelation 22:14 – Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

Ezekiel 18:21-23 – But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. 22 None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. 23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

We must also understand that no matter how many times we transgress and repent of the same sin, God is faithful to forgive us, as long as we admit the sin to God every time it is committed.

Matthew 18:21-22 – Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

If God expects us to forgive a repentant brother this many times, how much more will He forgive us if we are repentant, even if it is for a repeat offense?

1 Corinthians 6:9 & 10 – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Homosexuals are not the only ones who will not enter the kingdom of heaven if they do not admit their sin. Taking a look at 1 Corinthians 6:9 & 10, the list of people who will not inherit the kingdom of heaven is not just limited to unrepentant homosexuals. Other kinds of sin are included in this list. In the eyes of God, homosexuality is no greater a sin than lying, cheating or stealing. Everyone must repent and admit their sin, regardless of what it is.

Galatians 5:19-21 – The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:5 – For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Revelation 21:8 – But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Revelation 22:14-15 – “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

1 Timothy 1:9-11 – We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

Romans 13:13 – Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

Colossians 3:5 – Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

What we need to understand is regardless of the sin, if we admit our sins, God is sure to forgive us. And once we admit our sin, we are no longer on this list and therefore we can enter the kingdom of heaven.
