Homosexuality Is Forgivable, Gay Pride Is Not

Being gay and committing the sin of homosexuality is as forgivable a sin as any other. Gay pride, however, is blasphemous. This is because it contradicts the word of God. The difference between being gay and being proud of being gay is that being proud to be gay means that you do not believe homosexuality is a sin. In doing so, you are calling God a liar by not believing His word.

1 John 1:8 & 10 – If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us…10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

We must agree with the word of God about what is considered sin, and admit our sins so that we do not call God a liar. Whenever we admit our sin, like homosexuality, to God, He is sure to forgive us, no matter what the sin.

1 John 1:9 –  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Psalm 32:5 – Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Jeremiah 3:13 – Only acknowledge your guilt—you have rebelled against the Lord your God,you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree,    and have not obeyed me,’” declares the Lord.

Leviticus 5:5 – when anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned.

Ezra 10:11 – So now confess your sin to the LORD, the God of your ancestors, and do what he demands. Separate yourselves from the people of the land and from these pagan women.”

If you are proud of being gay, this means that anytime you commit a homosexual act, you will not acknowledge or admit your sin before God. Once you label homosexuality as not being a sin, you will stop confessing it to God. And this is when you cannot be forgiven. Gay pride means believing that homosexuality is not a sin, and this is the very definition of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit occurs anytime you deny you are sinning by adding exceptions to God’s word or annulling scripture from the word of God.

As tempting as it may be, do not cover up your sin with justifications and excuses. Admit it to God and He will forgive you.

Do not add exceptions to the Bible or omit scriptures to suit yourself. This is how you add and take away from the Bible. Doing so is an eternally unforgivable sin, called blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 4:2 –  Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 – See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

Revelation 22:18-19 – I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.

Proverbs 30:6 – Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

We must all obey the word of God no matter gender, race or sexual orientation.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 – Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.

When it comes to homosexuality, the scriptures are clear that practising homosexuality is a sin. Through the following scriptures, we can clearly see that in the eyes of God, homosexuality is wrong:

Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.

There are some people who claim that the law against homosexuality is under the Old Testament law and that followers of Christ are not under the law. The same concept of homosexuality being against God’s word can be found in the New Testament also:

Romans 1:26-27 – Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

1 Timothy 1:10 – The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching.

1 Corinthians 6:9 – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites…

It is clear, that the leaders of the first century church stated that the Gentile Christians must follow the law in regards to sexual immorality.

Acts 21:17 – 25 – When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters received us warmly. 18 The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present. 19 Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law. 21 They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs. 22 What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come, 23 so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. 24 Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. 25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.”

The first century church leaders are stating that Gentile Christians are free from following the law, other than the four stated components  of the law, including all laws regarding sexual immorality. This includes Leviticus 18:22 & Leviticus 20:13.

Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

This is explained again in:

Acts 15:2, 6 – 7, 13, 19-20 – 2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. 6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. 19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

Acts 15:22-29 – Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers. 23 With them they sent the following letter:

The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

Greetings.

24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

Farewell.

These scriptures were written by the leaders of the first century church.

Galatians 2:9 NIV – James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.

International Standard Version – So when James, Cephas, and John (who were reputed to be leaders) recognized the grace that had been given me, they gave Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we should go to the gentiles and they to the circumcised.

So indeed when it comes to any law regarding sexual immorality, we must adhere to it.

Regardless of this, no sin is greater than another. Homosexuality is no greater sin than adultery.

James 2:10 – For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11 For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.

Luke 13:1-5 – Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

These scriptures clearly show that all these sins, greed, hate, adultery, etc., are equal in the eyes of God.

There is a difference in sins, but this pertains to transgressions, iniquity and blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. It is important to understand this because blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable/unpardonable sin.

Matthew 12:31 – And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mark 3:28-30 – Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” 30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

Luke 12:10 – And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

To ‘blaspheme the Holy Spirit’ means to twist the teachings of Jesus. To make what is wrong, right through manipulation and compromise.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit means to twist and compromise the words and teaching of Jesus so that what is right is twisted to be wrong. By doing this, you are calling the Holy Spirit a liar. This is an unforgivable sin which cannot be forgiven in this age or the next.

1 John 1:8-10 – If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

We must admit our sin instead of covering it up with justifications and compromise, so that we may appear innocent and sinless. Once we twist the truth and change right from wrong within our understanding, there is no coming back from this.

Hebrews 6:4-8 – It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

Hebrews 10:26-29 – If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

As long as we do not twist the truth to suit our actions, we will not be guilty of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. When you do something that is against the word and commandments of God; instead of justifying it and covering it up to appear innocent, we should cry out to God in repentance, admitting our sin and asking Him for forgiveness, which we are sure to receive.

Psalm 51:2 – Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Psalm 32:5 – Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess  my transgressions to the Lord.”And you forgave  the guilt of my sin. As our Creator, God knows that none of us will ever be perfect in action.

Romans 3:23 – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 3:10 – as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

Kings 8:46 – When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near

Chronicles 6:36 – When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near;

Ecclesiastes 7:20 – Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.

We can, however, be perfect in philosophy, meaning our standards of right and wrong, by adopting the teachings and interpretation of Jesus. Of course, we will always fall short in some way or another in action, but we must acknowledge our shortcomings, instead of ‘lowering the bar’ to cover up and justify our sin. We must not confuse what is right and wrong so that we can appear innocent before God. This would be an unpardonable sin – not the action we committed.

So then, we must not twist the fact that in the eyes of God, homosexuality is wrong, but so is greed. By greed, I mean anyone who does not accept the statement that we must give up all. As long as we fall short and do not twist this teaching of Jesus’, and we ask for forgiveness, God is sure to forgive us. No matter how many times we commit the sin, God is faithful to forgive us everytime we ask.

The bible is very clear that homosexuality is wrong and we must not twist this truth. As long as this sin is admitted to God and you ask for forgiveness for each transgression, God is faithful to forgive. Confessing the sin would allow a homosexual to enter the kingdom of heaven.

1 John 1:9 – 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Lastly, a word of caution to anyone who twists and manipulates this truth of salvation and forgiveness. Anyone who believes that somehow, a homosexual who has confessed their sin cannot enter the kingdom of heaven; that person is also in danger of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit themselves. This is because they are twisting the scriptures pertaining to salvation.

An Example Of Homosexual Pride Being Wrong In The Bible

Two examples can be found in the Old Testament:

Genesis 19:1-11 – The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”

“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”

3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

9 “Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.

Herein lies the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah had no shame or guilt in regards to their homosexual urges. These urges were against God’s word which essentially is gay pride.

Isaiah 3:8-9 – Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence. 9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

Psalm 36:1-4 BSB – There is no fear of God before his eyes. 2For his eyes are too full of conceit to detect or hate his own sin. 3The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and well-doing. 4Even on his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is not good; he fails to reject evil.

NET Translation – An evil man is rebellious to the core. He does not fear God, 2for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. 3The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. 4He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; he does not reject what is evil.

Parading your sin around means that you have pride instead of guilt about your sin.

2 Peter 2:6-10 – if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—

As we can see, it says ‘saw and heard’. By ‘heard’ this scripture is referring to the justifications that the men of Sodom made to commit homosexuals acts.

9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;

Deuteronomy 32:32 – Their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are filled with poison, and their clusters with bitterness

Those who are proud of their sin hold bitterness and poison against God’s word. Their sinful fruit is not the actual homosexual act, but that they twist right from wrong. The homosexual act can be forgiven but not the justification and manipulation of God’s word.

The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was the twisting of the truth. It was the perversion of changing right and wrong so that they could blatantly sin without guilt. They preferred pride over guilt.

Ezekiel 16:49-50 – 49 “‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

In verse 49, none of these sins pertain to a sexual sin but rather a spiritual sin of a lack of guilt, pride and disobedience. In verse 50, the detestable things God is referring to is not physical but spiritual. Once again, it is referring to twisting and manipulation of his word.

If we read through Ezekiel 16, we can see that all the sexual immorality that God is referring to is not literal but spiritual. This is the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. A spiritual sin of immorality; which is twisting right and wrong. The pride and lack of guilt that comes with this is sin.

Ezekiel 16 – The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her detestable practices 3 and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says to Jerusalem: Your ancestry and birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. 5 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.

6 “‘Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!” 7 I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew and developed and entered puberty. Your breasts had formed and your hair had grown, yet you were stark naked.

8 “‘Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

9 “‘I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you. 10 I clothed you with an embroidered dress and put sandals of fine leather on you. I dressed you in fine linen and covered you with costly garments. 11 I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, 12 and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13 So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was honey, olive oil and the finest flour. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. 14 And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign Lord.

15 “‘But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his. 16 You took some of your garments to make gaudy high places, where you carried on your prostitution. You went to him, and he possessed your beauty. 17 You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them. 18 And you took your embroidered clothes to put on them, and you offered my oil and incense before them. 19 Also the food I provided for you—the flour, olive oil and honey I gave you to eat—you offered as fragrant incense before them. That is what happened, declares the Sovereign Lord.

20 “‘And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? 21 You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols. 22 In all your detestable practices and your prostitution you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, kicking about in your blood.

23 “‘Woe! Woe to you, declares the Sovereign Lord. In addition to all your other wickedness, 24 you built a mound for yourself and made a lofty shrine in every public square. 25 At every street corner you built your lofty shrines and degraded your beauty, spreading your legs with increasing promiscuity to anyone who passed by. 26 You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your neighbors with large genitals, and aroused my anger with your increasing promiscuity. 27 So I stretched out my hand against you and reduced your territory; I gave you over to the greed of your enemies, the daughters of the Philistines, who were shocked by your lewd conduct. 28 You engaged in prostitution with the Assyrians too, because you were insatiable; and even after that, you still were not satisfied. 29 Then you increased your promiscuity to include Babylonia, a land of merchants, but even with this you were not satisfied.

30 “‘I am filled with fury against you, declares the Sovereign Lord, when you do all these things, acting like a brazen prostitute! 31 When you built your mounds at every street corner and made your lofty shrines in every public square, you were unlike a prostitute, because you scorned payment.

32 “‘You adulterous wife! You prefer strangers to your own husband! 33 All prostitutes receive gifts, but you give gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to you from everywhere for your illicit favors. 34 So in your prostitution you are the opposite of others; no one runs after you for your favors. You are the very opposite, for you give payment and none is given to you.

35 “‘Therefore, you prostitute, hear the word of the Lord! 36 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you poured out your lust and exposed your naked body in your promiscuity with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because you gave them your children’s blood, 37 therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked. 38 I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring on you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger. 39 Then I will deliver you into the hands of your lovers, and they will tear down your mounds and destroy your lofty shrines. They will strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry and leave you stark naked. 40 They will bring a mob against you, who will stone you and hack you to pieces with their swords. 41 They will burn down your houses and inflict punishment on you in the sight of many women. I will put a stop to your prostitution, and you will no longer pay your lovers. 42 Then my wrath against you will subside and my jealous anger will turn away from you; I will be calm and no longer angry.

43 “‘Because you did not remember the days of your youth but enraged me with all these things, I will surely bring down on your head what you have done, declares the Sovereign Lord. Did you not add lewdness to all your other detestable practices?

44 “‘Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: “Like mother, like daughter.” 45 You are a true daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and her children; and you are a true sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. 46 Your older sister was Samaria, who lived to the north of you with her daughters; and your younger sister, who lived to the south of you with her daughters, was Sodom. 47 You not only followed their ways and copied their detestable practices, but in all your ways you soon became more depraved than they. 48 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done.

49 “‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. 51 Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done. 52 Bear your disgrace, for you have furnished some justification for your sisters. Because your sins were more vile than theirs, they appear more righteous than you. So then, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.

53 “‘However, I will restore the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and of Samaria and her daughters, and your fortunes along with them, 54 so that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you have done in giving them comfort. 55 And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to what they were before; and you and your daughters will return to what you were before. 56 You would not even mention your sister Sodom in the day of your pride, 57 before your wickedness was uncovered. Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all her neighbors and the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who despise you. 58 You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your detestable practices, declares the Lord.

59 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant. 60 Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. 61 Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters, but not on the basis of my covenant with you. 62 So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord. 63 Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

The sin that Sodom and Gomorrah committed was the most serious of all. It was the sin of blasphemy, to twist right from wrong and essentially call God and His word a lie. All this while no longer having any guilt for their sin due to their blasphemy.

Jesus also explains this concept:

Luke 17:28-30 – “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

In this scripture, we can see Jesus comparing this generation, as to the time of Lot, Sodom & Gomorrah. He is not stating everyone is homosexual but rather that they have twisted right from wrong. Therefore, they no longer think what they do is wrong, making them sexually immoral. That is why they just go on with life eating and drinking, as if nothing were wrong.

The same thing happened in the days of Noah except they were not homosexuals. The people in the days of Noah had twisted right from wrong in their philosophies (their heart). They became completely immoral, causing them to no longer recognize their sin.

Luke 17:26-27 – Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

Genesis 6:5-7, 9, 11-13 – 5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”..9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God…11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

Twisting God’s word is the most violent act in the kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 11:12 – From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it.

Luke 16:16 – The law and the prophets were until John; from that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every one useth violence towards it.

The following scriptures are in reference to the punishment of anyone who commits the same sin as Sodom and Gomorrah. That is to twist right from wrong by annulling or adding exceptions to God’s word. In essence, calling God a liar and no longer having any guilt for your sins, but rather a blasphemous pride.

Jude 1:7 – In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Jeremiah 23:14 – In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Isaiah 1:9-10 – Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors we would have become like Sodom,    we would have been like Gomorrah. 10 Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

Lamentations 4:6 – The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her.

Deuteronomy 29:23 – The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger.

Jeremiah 49:18 – As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown, along with their neighboring towns,” says the LORD, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it.

Isaiah 13:19 – Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms,  the pride and glory of the Babylonians, will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Zephaniah 2:9 – Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the Lord Almighty,    the God of Israel,

“surely Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah—a place of weeds and salt pits,

a wasteland forever. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the survivors of my nation will inherit their land.”

Jeremiah 50:40 – As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah along with their neighboring towns,” declares the Lord, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it.

Amos 4:11 – “I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord.

Psalm 107:34 – and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there.

There is also another example of this in the Bible:

Judges 19 – In those days Israel had no king.

Now a Levite who lived in a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim took a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah. 2 But she was unfaithful to him. She left him and went back to her parents’ home in Bethlehem, Judah. After she had been there four months, 3 her husband went to her to persuade her to return. He had with him his servant and two donkeys. She took him into her parents’ home, and when her father saw him, he gladly welcomed him. 4 His father-in-law, the woman’s father, prevailed on him to stay; so he remained with him three days, eating and drinking, and sleeping there.

5 On the fourth day they got up early and he prepared to leave, but the woman’s father said to his son-in-law, “Refresh yourself with something to eat; then you can go.” 6 So the two of them sat down to eat and drink together. Afterward the woman’s father said, “Please stay tonight and enjoy yourself.” 7 And when the man got up to go, his father-in-law persuaded him, so he stayed there that night. 8 On the morning of the fifth day, when he rose to go, the woman’s father said, “Refresh yourself. Wait till afternoon!” So the two of them ate together.

9 Then when the man, with his concubine and his servant, got up to leave, his father-in-law, the woman’s father, said, “Now look, it’s almost evening. Spend the night here; the day is nearly over. Stay and enjoy yourself. Early tomorrow morning you can get up and be on your way home.” 10 But, unwilling to stay another night, the man left and went toward Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), with his two saddled donkeys and his concubine.

11 When they were near Jebus and the day was almost gone, the servant said to his master, “Come, let’s stop at this city of the Jebusites and spend the night.”

12 His master replied, “No. We won’t go into any city whose people are not Israelites. We will go on to Gibeah.” 13 He added, “Come, let’s try to reach Gibeah or Ramah and spend the night in one of those places.” 14 So they went on, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin. 15 There they stopped to spend the night. They went and sat in the city square, but no one took them in for the night.

16 That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was living in Gibeah (the inhabitants of the place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the fields. 17 When he looked and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, “Where are you going? Where did you come from?”

18 He answered, “We are on our way from Bethlehem in Judah to a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim where I live. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah and now I am going to the house of the Lord. No one has taken me in for the night. 19 We have both straw and fodder for our donkeys and bread and wine for ourselves your servants—me, the woman and the young man with us. We don’t need anything.”

20 “You are welcome at my house,” the old man said. “Let me supply whatever you need. Only don’t spend the night in the square.” 21 So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink.

22 While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, “Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him.”

This is where the sin can be identified. Not that the townsmen were homosexuals, but that they had no shame in regards to their homosexual urges, which were clearly against God’s word. They did not have the shame or guilt to hide their sin and they were open about it.

23 The owner of the house went outside and said to them, “No, my friends, don’t be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don’t do this outrageous thing. 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don’t do such an outrageous thing.”

25 But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go. 26 At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.

27 When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold. 28 He said to her, “Get up; let’s go.” But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.

29 When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel. 30 Everyone who saw it was saying to one another, “Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Just imagine! We must do something! So speak up!”

The people are not stating that there has never been homosexuality, rape or adultery in the land since before Moses. They are pointing out the fact that these sorts of acts are happening shamelessly out in the open. There is no sense of guilt for their sinful acts against God. So much so, that they were congregating in public and making demands with no shame. This immorality and perversion of God’s word had not taken place since before Moses, which was Sodom and Gomorrah.
